Christ the Redeemer Parish Website
Christ the Redeemer Parish (CTR) is a vibrant Christian community in West Vancouver, BC. With hundreds of active families attending Mass and parish activities each week, this parish is often seen as one of the most active and engaged on the North Shore. The parish website, however, did not accurately portray what it felt like to be a part of this community. As part of the staff team at CTR, I had the opportunity to re-imagine the parish website to make it a place where visitors and parishioners would feel as welcome as they do when walking into the church.
Mobile Layout
While many of our parishioners are of an older demographic, we wanted to ensure the site functioned effectively and still looked beautiful on mobile. Our clean, minimalist design allowed for a mobile site that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Incorporating different fonts and colours where appropriate to adhere to certain programs' brand guidelines was also possible within our chosen design (see Alpha page).
Mega-Menu
Site navigation was a key consideration in building the new website. We decided to build a "mega-menu" and chose subheadings based on the church's "discipleship path" - essentially the user journey a parishioner would take through various stages of involvement in faith / the church.
The negative space in the bottom right corner of the menu allows for a call to action button to be added seasonally - for Christmas or Easter, for example.
New Parishioners
We intentionally created a space for new parishioners to find answers to their questions about the Catholic Church and about the parish itself. The new parishioner registration form is linked here and programs that might be of interest to someone just starting to explore the faith are available to browse through.
